Life is tough enough on its own, but when you have a chronic disease, tough is an understatement.

Welcome to the Life Despite Lupus website

This site is all about living life to the fullest – your fullest. What’s on your medical records is not who you are and doesn’t have to hang over your life like a cloud of doom. Here you’ll find health, wellness and life tips, tricks, hacks and other sneaky ways to live smarter, not harder. All from a girl who’s been there, done that and burned the t-shirt.

I’m back! Me and my kidney-baby are healing fine. A huge thank-you to everyone who sent well-wishes!

Kidney issues are the single most common complication of lupus, with many lupus patients eventually needing dialysis or a transplant. Unfortunately, thanks to fear-fueled misinformation, there are fewer and fewer organs to go around and many patients die hoping for a transplant. You can learn more about how lupus can affect the kidneys through these articles on the Lupus Foundation of America website. If you’d like to know what you can do to give someone back their life, check out OrganDonor.gov, UNOS or Donate Life America.
